Logo placement on a quarter zip: size, position and what to avoid
Most placement problems on quarter zips come from the zipper. Put the logo too high or too close to center and the pull sits on it. Here is how Battle Born Clothing positions embroidery and what we need from you.
Standard left-chest placement
| Measure | Typical |
|---|---|
| Logo width | 3 to 4 in (max about 4.5 in) |
| Logo height | 1.5 to 2.5 in |
| Down from shoulder seam | 7 to 8 in |
| In from center front | 3 to 4 in to logo center |
| Clearance from zipper tape | At least 1 in |
| Stitch count | Up to 6,000 included |
We shift the logo down and out slightly on larger sizes so it sits in the same place relative to the chest. On a mock neck without a zipper the logo can ride up to 6 to 7 inches from the shoulder seam.
Clearing the zipper
A quarter zip's zipper tape runs 8 to 10 inches down from the collar. We keep the logo at least an inch outside the tape and below the zipper stop so the slider and pull never cover it. Logos wider than about 4.5 inches start to crowd the zipper on smaller sizes, so we scale them down and show you on the proof.
When the garment brand owns the left chest
Carhartt, adidas, Under Armour and Nike quarter zips carry a brand mark on the chest, sometimes left, sometimes right. Your logo goes on the opposite side at the same height. Battle Born Clothing is an authorized decorator for Carhartt, Nike and OGIO, and we will not cover or remove a brand mark.
Second locations
- Left sleeve, 2 to 3 inches wide, centered on the upper arm. Good for a flag, year or sponsor.
- Back yoke, 3 to 5 inches wide, centered 1 to 2 inches below the collar seam. Good for a company name or website.
- Right chest, small, for an employee name or title.
- Full back: embroidery over 6,000 stitches is quoted per design; we usually recommend a DTF transfer instead.
Each extra location is quoted per design and needs its own digitized file ($18.99) unless it is the same art at the same size. Details on sleeve and back embroidery.
Artwork that places well
- Horizontal logos (wider than tall) fit the left chest best.
- Stacked or square logos should be scaled to 2.5 to 3 inches tall.
- Text under 0.25 inch tall does not sew legibly; we enlarge or drop it on the proof.
- Keep at least one color with contrast against the garment, or go tone-on-tone on purpose.
How we confirm placement
Every order gets a digital proof showing the logo at size on the garment color, with measurements. Nothing sews until you approve it. If you have an existing embroidered piece you want matched, send a photo with a ruler in it.

Questions
Can you put the logo on the right chest instead?
Yes. Right chest is standard when the garment has a brand mark on the left, and some companies prefer it anyway. Say so on the quote form.
Can the logo go on the collar or zipper flap?
Collar and zipper garage areas are too small and too thick to embroider cleanly. We keep decoration to the chest, sleeve and back.
